How can we live a long and good life today?
How can we have success in this world?
Proverbs 19:8 tells us, “one who safeguards understanding finds success.” (CSB).
Success is found in research.
How can we solve something? Research, the smarter we work the easier work is.
Solomon was given the opportunity to have whatever he desired.
He told the Lord that he wanted a hearing heart. Solomon asked God for wisdom.
For us today we need to be reminded constantly about how God blesses us.
He blesses us with wisdom as we seek it.
This means that when we run into a problem, we must look and seek wisdom.
Proverbs 19:2 tells us, ‘Even zeal is not good without knowledge, and the one who acts hastily sins” (CSB).
Passion can be great but if it is not mixed with the right wisdom, it can cause trouble.
The other day I went to the Astros game.
It was so amazing to be back at the ballpark since I hadn’t been back in three years.
When you’re at a game it can be easy to not watch the entire time.
While just relaxing and enjoying the game - looking at the score box and my food - I heard the sound of a crack.
The batter had just launched a rocket over the left fielders’ arms.
I began to clap, after a second I realized that no one was clapping with me.
I had lost track of who was batting and realized it was the other team who got the home run.
Zeal and passion are great motivators for us, they can encourage us and give us great energy.
We need to use this zeal with Godly wisdom.
The book of Proverbs has 31 chapters.
I challenge you to read a chapter of Proverbs a day for a whole month and allow God to give you wisdom.
God wants success for your life, but this will take place when we first seek the Lord.
This is the one calling we have in this life.
We seek the Lord and it is God who will handle all of the other details of our lives.
We can be worried about many things, but only one thing is needful, we must sit at the feet of Jesus and hear Him.
Let’s be like Solomon and ask God for a hearing heart.
