   And now for the big news – Sunday is Daylight Savings Time.  I don’t really reserve such an introduction for the trouble of setting back – or ahead – at six-month occurrences.  At least Sunday’s time change is the lesser of the two routine pains – it sets the time back an hour.

   For better or for worse, Halloween has been my favorite holiday for several decades.  Now, Christmas is a close second place – dare I say it, 1.5th place!  But, it still lacks the overall eerie sugar-fueled magic I’ve come to expect with Halloween.

   We broke the six weeks of gains for the S&P 500 stock-index.   You could point to fatigue, poor earnings reports, international tension or a litany of arguments.   It was mostly earnings, as some industrials just didn’t perform as projected.

   To say that I have been eagerly awaiting this third Venom installment is an understatement.  After all, I found the 2021 sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” to be such a letdown that you’d think I would stop keeping my hopes up.

   It’s Halloween week.  Merchandise already hit the stores a couple of months ago and plenty of ‘fight or flight’ fright movies (say that three times quickly), settle into our psyche the minute the sun goes down and the lights go out.  I’m already triggered by these previous sentences.

   October has seemed like a strange month for me this year.  I’m used to it passing by in the blink of an eye, but have instead found myself in this strange bit of limbo.   Maybe it’s just my perception of time, but it doesn’t feel like much of anything was happening before the Rice Festival.

   We had the banks issue earnings last week and will have a significant amount of earnings reports from other sectors like new autos.   This week’s reports should provide some insight to consumer strength.   No matter, as the S&P 500 stock index has posted six straight weeks of gains.

   For me, Saturday Night Live has been hit-or-miss my entire life.   Sure, it’s had an awesome rotation of comedians and a variety of sketch segments at any given time, but largely I’m not an avid viewer.
