PSA: Can you save too much for a rainy day?

   “Save for a rainy day” is an old piece of advice - and a good one.  But is it possible to save too much?  What sort of events could qualify as a rainy day?  It could be any number of things - a temporary loss of employment, a major home or car repair, a large medical bill, and so on.

   I’m not going to lie to you – I’ve never read Frank Herbert’s “Dune” series at all.  Now, I’ve seen a variety of its cinematic iterations on the big and small screen, but I didn’t feel motivated to read the source material.

   Hurricane season is supposed to be a little ways off, but this year there are signs it will be supercharged.   That's the descriptions meteorologists are applying to the coming season.

   I know I’m pretty much in the minority when time comes to enjoying several varieties of squash.   In fact, I have a very narrow food profile when it comes to the gourd family.

   Another up week on the back of better than expected earnings from Nvidia.     It is impossible to ignore AI these days. I am more concerned about actually gains to productivity than the hype. I do fear that most of those gains will be at a cost to the labor force.

   While Bob Marley had passed before I was born – I’ve still heard his music cycled through almost every facet of pop culture until now.   And, I’ll likely continue hearing it.

‘Kindness takes all’

   Why is it that kindness gets pushed around and shoved in a locker at school for not being cool?   Since when did our cultural view of kindness shift to a state of weakness when identified in the workplace?   It’s time we rethink the origins of kindness.

   When I was a boy, I hated being sick and missing school.    We lived near my school when I was in the fifth grade and those times when I was ill I’d look at my friends and others outside, wishing I was with them.

     As most of you read several weeks ago: I’m not a person who subscribes to or participates in setting resolutions at the start of every year.  I think resolutions are no better than pipedream goals and other daydreams – not realistic enough to go the 365-day distance.
