   I’m writing this Monday evening, with the outside temperature at 25 and a feel like 12 degrees.    I’m worried about tomorrow.    On Tuesday, we’ll send the remaining two pages of this week’s edition – pages 1 and 2 – to the Houston printer digitally at about 8 a.m.

   In a holiday-shortened week, Texans got their first real taste of winter this year.    We also got a report last week that inflation hasn’t gone away as the CPI moved up slightly to 3.9% from 3.8%.    The various indexes and averages shrugged.

   You may have read reports about an impending “debt crisis” in the U.S.    Should you be worried about investing in Treasury securities?    The upward trend of federal debt could prove problematic down the road — but the claims of a current crisis may be overblown.

   I think the hardest hurdle I face with movie reviews is that the concepts in more horror movies aren’t new or groundbreaking, but there’s always hope the story doesn’t get lost when translated from text to live action.

   According to dictionary.cambridge.org, the common expression “every cloud has a silver lining” means that even the worst events or situations have some positive aspect.    When tragedy strikes, it’s been witnessed time and time again that it brings out the best in people.

   We got back to work this week – no small feat considering the long-awaited Christmas and New Year’s holidays were now past.    That’s all right, we’ll leave the trees up to remember the holly-filled days gone by.
