"A frigid arctic front will usher in Christmas Day " by: Mike Reddell

First off, I want to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas.
Oh, and bundle up this week.
The overnight low Thursday is expected to drop and by around 6 a.m. Friday the temperature will be around 17.
Saturday, Christmas Eve, will have sub-freezing lows in the 20s and 30s.
Christmas Day will range from 34 to 48, with a slight chance of snow.
December also brings the trifecta of MaLinda’s birthday, our anniversary and, of course, Christmas.
MaLinda chose a different present – a trip Saturday to Houston’s Wortham Theater Center to see the Nutcracker.
It was my first ballet and I wanted to make MaLinda’s trip, along with her daughters Jessica and Ashlee, a memorable one.
I found the whole experience wonderful and unforgettable.
That impression came from the brightly colorful Christmas set, the music from Tchaikovsky, which I’ve always enjoyed, and the ballet itself with its hundreds of roles.
I was glad I read about the story from the book we received, otherwise I wouldn’t have quite grasped what I was watching.
Even for someone as untutored as I am about ballet, the performances were amazing for their artistry and, from my vantage point, athleticism.
Thanks MaLinda for taking me along.
This past week, I covered the annual Shop with a Cop event and Santa’s visit to the Bay City Regional Airport.
Lots of happy kids at both events.
Kids at the Shop with a Cop had $200 to spend – money raised by Bay City Police Department, which founded the event, and others wanting to help.
Airport Manager James Mason and his crew welcomed close to 300 kids at the airport with Santa - arriving in a helicopter - the Grinch, the BCPD K-9 unit, DPS and Herman-Memorial Lifeflight choppers, story time, with lots of food and drink.
I happened to catch part of Saturday’s Vikings-Colts game.
No, I don’t care much about either team, but the game was noteworthy with the Vikings overcoming a 33-point deficit in the second half to defeat the hapless Colts, setting a new mark in NFL history.
   The old mark?
That belonged to my once-favorite team, the long-departed Houston Oilers.
The Oilers blew a 32-point lead to the Buffalo Bills back in 1993, a long stain for a team and its fans to carry.
