"Give up the wisdom of the world and begin to seek after God " by: Caleb Gibson

There is an old saying that reads, “A wise old owl sat in an oak. The more he heard, the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why aren’t we all like that wise old bird?”
Paul’s letters to the Church in Corinth was the largest body of work directed to an individual congregation.
It is a reminder that we cannot rely on the wisdom of this word, but we must trust in God’s teachings.
The Church in Corinth had many struggles with sin that Paul spoke to them about.
Some believers were taking each other to court.
Some were disagreements about whether to be single or married.
Some were wrongly upset because they were eating food sacrificed to idols.
   Others were misunderstanding the communion.
And there was sexual immorality because of the area they lived in.
Corinth was a sailing spot similar to a location like Los Vegas.
Nevertheless Paul has a kind attitude with all his teaching.
His harshest criticism went to his letter to the Church in Galatia.
He called them “foolish Galatians” and said, “Who has bewitched you?”
Yet in this book he corrected those who were having sex outside of marriage by saying, “You are the temple of the Holy Spirit.”
It was a reminder of their identity in Christ.
Galatia did not receive this much kindness in comparison.
   Why is this?
Because Galatia was trying to mix the old and new covenants.
They were telling new believers they had to go to the temple, had to be circumcised, and could not eat certain foods.
In summary, they wanted the new Christians to become Jews as well.
Anytime we mix the two covenants we get confusion.
He told the Corinthians: “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18 NASB1995D).
Goliath may have seemed like the logical victor, but David was using God’s wisdom.
He took what would seem foolish and used a powerful sling to strike Goliath out.
The power of God is available for all of us.
Give up the wisdom of the world and begin to seek after God.
Go to Church, read the Bible, pray to God, and worship.
Begin to start a revival in your heart.
Martin Lloyd-Jones wrote, “What is the chief end of preaching? I like to think it is this. It is to give men and women a sense of God and His presence.”
May that be what you feel when you follow the Lord.
