God wants you to be successful.
As School begins the parents get them ready with food, shiny shoes, and a backpack full of learning.
All parents want their child to be a success.
In the same way, God wants us to be a success.
The Apostle John once said, “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1:2 NASB1995).
If we reverse this we can say, we are as successful as our soul is
prospering.
If we’re teaching the Bible we have to use the words as they are or else we need to change the word.
You can’t read the Bible where it says, “The sky is Blue”.
And say, “well the word for blue is not really blue in essence it is really red”.
Well then now you don’t have a theology problem you have a language problem with the translation of the Bible and now you were going to need to change the translation of the Bible.
I’m not an expert in Greek or Hebrew, I simply believe that if the Bible translation says that the sky is blue I’m going to use that word blue to explain the Bible.
When we see success in the Bible we will see that God brought success to many people in the Bible.
We cannot conclude that God never makes anyone successful in the way that the world views success because that is the word used.
God’s success is better. It is lasting.
“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” (Joshua 1:8 NASB1995).
No success and prosperity do not automatically mean they are talking about money it depends on the context.
In the old covenant Israel received what that God provided.
Israel was given physical land.
These are the things that people strive for. People want a good home.
God said, “You crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho…but not by your sword or your bow. I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you had not built, and you have lived in them; you are eating of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’” (Joshua 24:11-13 NASB1995).
We should not worship God for material blessings but only a foolish Christian goes to work in the strength of himself.
Go to work in the strength of God.
Go to work knowing that what you will do will be prosperous because you love God.
You are prosperous because God loves you.
