Matagorda County Judge Bobby Seiferman has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in his bid to serve another term representing the citizens of Matagorda County.
“First and fore most I want to thank the good people of this county for putting their faith and trust in my abilities to serve as their Chief Executive for our county.
As I stated in my first campaign my pledge to the voters is to protect, project and promote Matagorda County interests for all of our stakeholders.”
As in 2022, the county will once again, through the new redistricting maps move into a new congressional district.
“I pledge, along with other leaders, to keep our interests front and center within the legislative district as my candidacy brings a much broader and more beneficial regional experience to the table.”
Bobby grew up in Matagorda County and knows how important the ag and energy sectors are to the local economy.
He has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Texas State University and was named to the TSU Honor Society for Public Affairs.
He also has a BS in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
Bobby is very active in the county’s chambers of commerce and service clubs.
He is past president of the Bay City Lion’s Club and the Bay City Jaycees and serves on the Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation board.
He has served on the boards or committees for three council of governments: Capital Area Council, Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission and the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments.
“I have over 35 years of media and economic development experience and I recognize how important it is for an elected official to be transparent and accountable.
I want our media outlets as well as the taxpayers to know that I will continue to be accessible and responsive.”
Bobby also has a Water Utility Manager’s certificate and is a Texas certified mediator and is certified in the Texas Public Information and Open Meetings Acts.
He has extensive public sector budgeting of well over a billion dollars and personnel and policy experience having served 2 years as Policy Committee Chairman for Round Rock ISD as an elected trustee.
“My earlier campaign platform included having an open door policy, creating a youth leadership class, work collaboratively with various county communities and more importantly provide more resources to law enforcement and our county volunteer fire departments.
As County Judge I also serve as Emergency Management Director for the county.
With the assistance of our many partners that make up the Emergency Operation’s Center and the countless volunteers in the county we were able to implement relief for Hurricane Beryl and deal directly with a cyberattack to maintain delivery of county services.
Immediately after Beryl I was asked by Lt. Governor Patrick to come to Austin and testify at a Senate subcommittee hearing on Beryl recovery and later did a TV interview with KXAN out of Austin on our response to the cyberattack and how that could benefit the governor’s creation of a cyber command agency.
I have helped secure hundreds of thousands of additional dollars for our county VFD’s and our Sheriff’s Department.
The award winning Youth Leadership Matagorda County program is in its third year and includes high school seniors from all 5 of the county’s school districts.
In May of 2026, 70 county seniors will have completed the program.
The program received a Best Practices Award from the Texas Association of Counties in 2024 and a Civics and Education Award from the National Association of Counties in 2025.
We have to invest in creating opportunity for Matagorda County youth.
They are the future leaders of this county.
Promises made.
Promises kept.
“It has been an honor to serve and I ask the voters for the opportunity to serve a second term.
I look forward to working with you and for you.
I’m an old Troop 45 Eagle Scout from way back and community service is very important to me.
I want our public safety personnel and first responders to rest assured that I will continue to work in securing resources to their agencies that will further protect the citizens of Matagorda County.
