Permission to be what - happy, healthy, successful, compassionate, empathetic, patient, loving, confident, faithful, humble?
The list goes on and on.
As a coach, I speak about embracing the possibility of your dreams.
In some cases, I’m met with hesitancy, past judgments, self-doubt, and most of all a lack of vision.
Sadly, we don’t come hard-wired with a 5-year plan to set in motion when we’re ready to move forward.
Indecision keeps us in the same place as we were the day before and the week before that.
The formulae I’ve come up with for clients involves giving yourself permission to be (your best self), implementing a plan, followed by setting your plan in motion (activation).
I’m going to lean in to one of my mystical mentors Franciscan Friar Fr. Richard Rohr.
In his book “Yes, And …” he writes, “If we keep listening to the love, if we keep receiving the love, trusting the love - even with all our limitations, with all our unworthiness, with all our limited intellect or whatever we feel holds us back - we start to experience within ourselves a sense of possibility.
Whatever life is inviting us into, we have this sense that it is still okay and even better, that we can do it!
This is what makes the mystics dangerous; It’s not just possibility they experience - but permission.
It’s permission to color outside the lines.
It’s permission to be who they really are.”
Such profound words to live by.
With all the world atrocities we’re bombarded with daily, we lose sight of the miracle of life in living color.
It makes me think of the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” and how the beginning was filmed in black and white.
Nothing to see here, until Dorothy was transported to Oz, a world of possibilities in high-definition colors.
Take charge of what distractions are consuming your time and take back your focus.
Yes, I’m a dreamer but more importantly, I’m a generator of possibilities and dreams working closely with others bravely stepping up to the plate giving themselves permission to be.
In other words, what are you waiting for?
