"Trump is directing several moves to affect voting" by: Mike Reddell

A Washington, DC TV station is reporting that the presence of National Guard troops and agents from several federal police agencies are damaging the DC restaurant business.
The report coincides with President Trump’s recent federal takeover of police in the nation’s capital.
More federal agents are due to arrive, along with a sizable contingent of West Virginia’s National Guard.
Trump claimed DC was lawless, which crime statistics show otherwise.
The restaurants saw a more than 30% drop in diners two days after Trump’s emergency control of police.
But Trump is a busy guy.
On one hand, he’s got staff working on an executive order to do away with mail-in voting.
While election fraud using mail-in voting has been disproven, Trump has no authority to end mail-in voting. It’s up to the state to end mail-in voting.
Nevertheless, he incorrectly states we’re now the only country in the world that uses mail-in voting.
Democrats are “unelectable without using this completely disproven mail-in scam,” he wrote on his Truth Social early Monday morning.
On the other hand, he joked with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House Monday, along with several European leaders present, about canceling the 2028 election.
Zelenskyy was saying that Ukraine hasn’t been able to hold elections with all of the fighting – the war.
The Ukrainian Constitution prohibits elections during wartime, which is why Zelenskyy said elections were not possible.
“So let me just see – three and a half years from me, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections. That’s good,” Trump said.
Speaking of another Trump episode to change elections to his liking, the Texas Democratic lawmakers returned to Austin Monday morning.
That will enable Republicans to pass their proposed congressional map, the Texas Tribune reported. (See related story, Page 5.)
Thanks to Trump, who pressured Texas lawmakers to redraw the districts this year, a proposed map could help Republicans gain five seats held by Democrats.
It would give the GOP 30 of Texas’ 38 congressional districts.
That made the Democrats leave Texas in July, denying the state house enough members needed to advance legislation.
Gov. Greg Abbott, under orders from Trump, called a second special legislative session Friday before the Democrats returned Monday.
I guess the look of more police, federal agents and National Guard troops on American streets, higher prices on consumers and escalated roundups of people – some citizens and children – for detention centers that are considered concentration camps by many is worth giving Trump more electoral power for some Republicans.
