Uncomfortable Truths

In Other words

Admit it, we all struggle with challenges that appear just out of our grasp, frustrated by numerous failed attempts to succeed at finding a job, being promoted, losing weight, trying out to make a team or completing a marathon. Excuses are a waste of time if you’re seeking blame outside of yourself when the solution could be hiding on the inside.

Learning to look within is a crucial step if you’re willing to be honest with yourself and face a few uncomfortable truths.

Allow me to allude to the concept ‘you are your own worst enemy.’

It points to the fact that sometimes we sabotage our own success, happiness and growth with our own internal obstacles like bad habits, fear, procrastination and lack of self-awareness.

Maybe the story we’ve created about ourselves has a tinge of inflated ego and hot air mixed into it.

Instagram account @mental.aspect brings the facts to the table.

“Growth doesn’t start with motivation. It starts with honesty that makes you feel uncomfortable.

“Most people don’t avoid growth because it’s hard. They avoid it because it threatens the story they tell themselves.

“A person’s capacity for growth is directly linked to how much truth they can face about themselves without running away.”

The facts brought up here lay to rest the idea that external circumstances are the culprit in our struggles.

Your willingness to seek change and grow authentically determines the outcome. @mental.aspect reveals, “Truth forces you to confront patterns. Patterns force responsibility.

“And responsibility removes excuses. The moment feedback feels like an attack, it’s usually touching something unresolved inside of yourself.

“You can’t heal what you refuse to name. And you can’t evolve while defending your ego.”

No one said it was going to be easy, but if pain and struggle are involved, it’s pain and struggle with purpose challenging you to break through to the next level of growth.

In other words, your willingness to examine your previous failed attempts to succeed, opens up a host of possibilities for you to learn from your mistakes and move from being your own worst enemy to your greatest ally.
