The noted English architect Sir Christopher Wren was supervising the construction of a magnificent cathedral in London.
A journalist thought it would be interesting to interview some of the workers, so he chose three and asked them this question, “What are you doing?”
The first replied, “I’m cutting stone for 10 shillings a day.”
The next answered, “I’m putting in 10 hours a day on this job.”
But the third said, “I’m helping Sir Christopher Wren construct one of London’s greatest cathedrals.”
David was a man after God’s own heart.
He was the only one in the Bible given that title.
He wanted to build the tabernacle of God, yet because of his battles and bloodshed, he was not allowed to build it.
His son Solomon was given the ability by God to begin and complete the project.
King Solomon spoke up during the dedication of the temple of Solomon saying, “So the Lord has fulfilled what he promised. I have taken the place of my father David and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised. I have built the temple for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.” (2 Chronicles 6:10).
It was the Lord who fulfilled His promise. In the same way, He is going to fulfill what He had promised for us.
God wanted the people to be reminded that he was with them. When God spoke to Moses in a burning bush, He told him to take of his feet for it was holy ground. God was in essence saying, “Come into my house.”
It is respectful to take off your shoes when you go into a house out of respect.
In the same way God wanted Moses to respect that place.
Today we do not have a physical house of the Lord, the temple is each believer.
We as Christians are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Louie Giglio once said, “The other enemy of the soul, meaninglessness…chokes out life with equal vigor.
Meaninglessness woos us into spending our one shot at life on insignificant and trivial things.
If we are not vigilant, we drift from God’s glorious ambition for our lives, losing sight of anything remotely grand, trading God-instilled passion for an easier and more often traveled road.”
God has promises and a purpose for you.
It’s time that we begin to walk in those promised.
This is the moment when we begin to do the work of the Lord.
How was the temple built?
It was because of a lot of time and dedication.
How can we complete our goals in this life?
Through time, dedication, and God’s favor.
