The great writer G.K. Chesterton’s mind was so preoccupied that he frequently forgot to keep appointments.
He relied on his wife in all practical matters.
Once on a lecture tour he sent her the following telegram: “Am in Birmingham. Where ought I to be?”
She wired back: “Home.”
Where should we be today?
Have you ever walked into a room and couldn’t remember what you were doing?
God wants us to remember our calling.
One way we can know God’s plan is by studying the Bible.
It is the Lord who leads us by the still waters, and make us lie down in green pastures (see Psalm 23).
When we go our own path, we are causing trouble in our life.
This is why it is important to follow God’s ways.
Colossians 2:14-15 tells us, “He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross.
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; he triumphed over them in him.”
For God to take the cleanse and wipe away our sins away is vital for our life.
How can we live a life free from guilt, regret, and condemnation?
We can do this by the finished work of Christ.
For us to be by the still waters, the waves of sin must be removed.
God is a leader. We are his people and we are also called followers of Jesus.
For us to be a follower means that we take time to let God speak into our life.
In Jeremiah 33:3, God speaks spoke through the prophet Jeremiah saying, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.”
God wants the Church to continue to be devoted to the word.
I like what Pastor Rick Warren once said: “The church must grow larger and smaller at the same time. Larger in worship, smaller in fellowship.”
He was speaking practically about having large times of worship and small times of Bible study.
It’s important to surround yourself with believers who can help guide your path.
Where is God calling you to be? I challenge you to take time to pray and seek the Lord.
Just take time to pray and ask the Lord for guidance.
Getting on your knees is a great part of prayer.
This places us in an act of humility and honor for God.
We are to kneel before no one except for God.
When we are able to seek the Lord, we can walk in strength.
Remember, we can know God’s will by knowing His word.
