"Wrestling with a new arm and another new complication" by: Mike Reddell

This one-handed way of life is getting old, but the latest reason is more strategic than the previous break from Thanksgiving.
Last week, I had right shoulder surgery to regain lost motion from years of arthritic buildup.
There seems to be countless jobs around the house that require two arms and hands.
Anyway, I look forward to regaining a lot more range of motion from the procedure.
Sidelined as I am, I have even more time to read different news accounts of current events.
I am saddened this country is completely divided on what the Trump Administration is doing with the federal government.
This week, the U.S. Senate is moving forward with Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) that’s projected to take a huge swipe at healthcare – where about 12 million people are expected to lose healthcare coverage with proposed Medicaid funding cuts.
Under the OBBBA, taxes increase for the poorer Americans and decrease for the wealthy.
For those of us who cringe at Congress’ steal from the poor and give to the rich budget plan, we can’t count on our two GOP senators.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz long ago made the hard right wing his home and now his GOP moderate counterpart John Cornyn is shifting further to the right.
Cornyn faces a primary from far right wing extremist Attorney General Ken Paxton, so he’s moving away from those of us in the middle.
Paxton, by the way, is polling several points over Cornyn.
As always, I’m confronted with the reality that at least half of America is okay with this destruction of due process and individual rights.
This new America that many have embraced is cruel in many respects.
And that, I suppose, is my biggest disappointment after my three quarters of a century of living.
Never mind Cornyn, the America I have loved seems to have shifted farther away from me.
The bill may clear the Senate by Trump’s July 4 demand.
Some GOP Senators are balking as I write this late Monday.
Some see how this hurts this country.
If others see this as good, I don’t want to know how.
