On Saturday, June 15, the Wharton County Junior College Foundation held the inaugural Blackjack, Glitz & Glamor at the Houston Marriott Sugar Land, raising over $60,000 to support WCJC students.

Fire destroyed a vacant house at 155 Janice at about 5:25 p.m. Sunday, June 23. The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, and the Fire Marshal responded and the fire department identified heavy fire involvement.

Emergency Management Coordinator Amanda Campos warned Matagorda County residents to prepare for this week’s tropical storm brewing in the gulf. Campos made her remarks at the Commissioners Court’s regular meeting Monday morning, June 17.
