   Sargent Area Fire and Rescue soon will purchase a new utility task vehicle to assist with emergency medical and rescue responses on the beach and in hard-to-reach areas.thanks to a $35,055 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Caney Creek Cut Maintenance Dredging

Matagorda County Drainage District No. 1 will begin dredging the entrance to Caney Creek Cut in June 2025 to remove shoaling near the mouth of Caney Creek Cut. Surveys indicate that shoaling has accumulated at the mouth of Caney Creek that could impact navigation during lower tides.

   Matagorda County Emergency Operation Center and Matagorda Local Emergency Planning Committee are hosting an “Inaugural Hurricane Symposium” this Saturday, May 10.  “This event focuses on storm-related threats that impact our coast and Matagorda County,” said County Judge Bobby Seiferman.
