Bay City voters approved two of three proposed city charter changes – one for aligning council terms and the other requiring at least one meeting a month, in Bay City and Palacios elections Saturday, May 3.

   Commissioners Court approved an interlocal agreement for a new aquatic center and learned the Blessing Community Center is nearly complete in time for this Sunday’s Blessing Day.

"Countywide 2022-23 TEA letter grades are released" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released 2022-23 school year ratings last week.  The A-F letter grades were released after a 19-month legal battle over how those ratings are calculated.  Locally, those grades are “B” for Tidehaven and “C” for Bay City, Van Vleck, Palacios, and Matagorda ISDs.

   After an hour in closed session, Bay City ISD trustees unanimously approved Christopher Townsend as Acting Superintendent starting May 1 during their special-called meeting last week.

   City council members spent over an hour discussing the future of city sports facilities during a workshop last week.  All council members were present for the meeting.
