Off-duty Bay City Police Officer Cody Janssen was headed home after a 12-hour shift when he saw a man dragging an air conditioning unit through a parking lot of an abandoned business early Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Janssen circled the 1300 block of 7th Street while calling the Police Department at about 6 a.m.
The suspect left the AC unit in the parking lot and was walking down the street.
Bay City police officers caught up with Desmond Randle, 36, of Bay City, and arrested him for the theft of property more than $2,500 and less than $30,000.
Detective Chris Cunningham is currently investigating whether Randle was working alone or with others.
