Carney named VVISD AD, head football coach

Van Vleck ISD officially announced Cody Carney as the new VVISD Athletic Director (AD) and Head Football Coach last week.
VVISD trustees made the unanimous decision on Tuesday, January 20.
“Selected from a competitive pool of 60 applicants, Carney emerged as the top choice after a rigorous selection process and a comprehensive interview with a committee of district administrators and veteran coaches,” said VVISD Superintendent Christie Dement in a press release.
“While he has been a valued member of the Van Vleck ISD coaching staff for the past year, this promotion marks a new chapter for both Cody and his family.”
Carney has led teams to state championships in 7-on-7 football and powerlifting.
“He is supported by his wife, Lyndi Carney, who serves the district as a teacher/coach and their two children - Cuyler and Cullen,” added Dement.
“Lyndi was also an instrumental part of the powerlifting state championships run. The district looks forward to the leadership and vision Carney will bring to the Leopard athletic programs.”
Carney had been serving as interim AD and head football coach following the resignation of former AD Shannon Permenter on Dec. 15.
