"Jones-Jackson Cemetery now a Historic Texas Cemetery" by: Mike Reddell

   Jones-Jackson Cemetery in northern Matagorda County was designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2021 through the efforts of the Jones/Jackson family.  A historical marker was dedicated at the cemetery located a few miles north of Pledger off FM 1301 at a ceremony Saturday afternoon, Feb.

   The Bay City Main Street Program board unanimously approved two façade grants during its monthly meeting last week.  Edward Jones’ John Dickerson was approved for $4,736 to replace 10 single-pane windows with double panes and replace any corresponding wood damage.

   Tax Increment Re-Investment Zone (TIRZ) #1-4 board members received updated project statuses and annual reports during a meeting Thursday, Feb. 13.

   Progress is being made in the two weeks since the county’s ransomware attack, County Judge Bobby Seiferman said in an update at Commissioners Court regular meeting Monday, Feb. 10.  “We’re moving along, but we have a ways to go,” the judge said.
