"If you believe in Jesus you have the Holy Spirit" by: Caleb Gibson

Daniel Amen, in his book about how to supercharge your brain, once said, “The brain uses its approximately 86 billion neurons, which fire 18 trillion times a second, to perceive and analyze incoming data; decide what, if anything, to do about it; and then execute your responses.”
God has designed a powerful mind.
Colossians 3:2 tells us, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
This verse is a reminder of the true focus of our life.
Yes, these earthly things have relevance, but they should not hold our primary focus.
We still have to get up and work, mow the grass, and figure out what to eat, but we cannot allow these earthly things to hold the primary attention in our minds.
Many times, the Bible talks about the importance of the heart and the mind.
It is interesting because in the context of this verse, Paul tells the Church in Colossae that their life is, “hidden with Christ” (Verse 3). What an interesting thought. What does this mean?
Our life is now in Christ, we must count and remember this.
To have a life hidden in Christ is to have it not lived in the world. While we live in the world we are not to live like the world.
Think about this, if I live in Matagorda, my life is really hidden or contained from Australia.
While I can write a letter to those in Australia or call them, they are not aware of what is going on.
In the similar way, we are now dead to sin.
We do not live there anymore. Our life is not in sin, it is in Christ.
We have been freed from the bondage of sin and have the moving van and departed.
The Egyptians left the harsh slavery in Egypt, yet many of the people complained to God about the journey to the new land.
They desperately wanted to go back and many of their mindsets were still a part of that culture.
It has been said, “You can get out of Egypt, but it’s hard to get the Egypt out of you.”
To set your minds on things above is to have God’s will as the primary focus in our heart.
May we use our minds for God’s glory.
If you are a believer in Jesus you have the Holy Spirit.
The Scriptures also tell us that, “we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16).
