The Bay City Ladycat Soccer Team had another fantastic year.
I could write that sentence every season it seems.
This year, the girls fell to Lumberton 3-0 in the regional final game of the UIL state championship soccer playoff.
To put the girls' achievement this year into perspective, they were one game shy of the state championship.
As hard as they played this year and the honors they earned - please see the related story in sports on Page 6 today - Saturday's loss was difficult for players and fans alike.
That's because Ladycat soccer is annually expected to be among the state's best.
Perhaps an even more optimistic way of looking at this is Coach Darin Dabelgott's network of younger girls soccer teams.
When he's not focused on Ladycat soccer, he's closely following the teams with future Bay City High School players.
I'm disappointed they lost, but heartened we're highly likely to be cheering them on in another playoff run next year.
Well done Ladycats, and well done Darin!

I'm extremely blessed to work with my wife MaLinda and Jessica, who is my daughter in so-many ways.
They stepped up to put out this weekend's edition of the Sentinel, while I was sidelined with a medical issue.
I thank the Lord for guiding all three of us
