What should we do now that Easter is over?
We should think about what God does after the Resurrection of Jesus.
Gifts are important in our life.
And God has good gifts for us.
In fact, after Jesus rose from the dead He gave the Church the gifts of the Spirit.
Each of these gifts was like a fresh color that God used to begin the Church.
Even today, these gifts are used for the glory of God.
There are three biblical lists of the “gifts of the Spirit,” also known as spiritual gifts.
The three main passages describing the spiritual gifts are: Romans 12:6–8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; and 1 Corinthians 12:28.
The spiritual gifts identified in Romans 12 are prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and mercy.
1 Corinthians 12:4–11 includes the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues.
The list in 1 Corinthians 12:28 includes healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
Each of these gifts are given for a purpose.
I encourage you to take time to read and study them individually.
These gifts are really called grace gifts.
They a reminder that all that we have is from God.
So there is nothing to be arrogant about.
Your gift is a gift from God.
But don’t self-deprecating about yourself.
Many times this takes place in humor, but it is important to have a positive attitude.
Don’t say, “Yes, this is my car, but I don’t like this or that.
‘Yes, this is my house, but I need to repaint this and clean that.
“Yes, I’ve been working out, but I need to loose more weight.”
No, just be thankful for who you are.
Don’t feel the need to add negative thoughts on your life.
Stop talking so down on yourself.
Stop saying, “I forgot” say, “I just remembered.”
There is a time to be real and honest about life.
We cannot always be colorful -sometimes we need the black, white, and grey to help our life painting look great.
If everything was always pink, it would be too overwhelming.
If the sky was always the same blue it would be bland.
Let God shape you and use you.
God uses each of these spiritual gifts to grow the Church.
Not everyone has every gift, but we all use what we have to the glory of God.
