Ten newly built beach bungalows soon will be available for a coastal escape at Matagorda Bay Nature Park, providing a picturesque setting for a relaxing weekend or a fun-filled vacation.
The park is located along the lower Colorado River at the Gulf of Mexico.
Travelers can book the bungalows now for stays beginning in July.
With elevated amenities for both adventurers and those looking for rest and relaxation, the stylish new beachside accommodations feature waterfront views, large decks, fully equipped kitchens, two bedrooms and cozy living rooms.
The Lower Colorado River Authority’s Matagorda Bay Nature Park is about 100 miles southwest of Houston and boasts 1,334 acres of untouched coastal parkland and wetlands on scenic Matagorda Peninsula.
In addition to being convenient to major Texas cities such as Houston, Austin and San Antonio, the bungalows are perfect for anyone looking to reconnect with nature without forgoing the comforts of home.
“The new beach bungalows offer a modern approach to experiencing the pristine charm of Matagorda Bay,” said Margo Richards, LCRA vice president of community resources.
“Featuring contemporary coastal design, the vacation rentals provide an excellent place to relax after a day of outdoor adventures at the coast.”
The beach rentals feature a spacious dining area that comfortably accommodates up to eight, covered parking and gas grills. The large rentals include two bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people.
The smaller bungalows can sleep up to six people. Two-night minimum bookings are required.
Matagorda Bay Nature Park’s miles of sandy beaches are a veritable playground for people who love the outdoors. The rich estuary is a renowned location for fishing to catch redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum, sheepshead and more. Matagorda County is also home to over 370 bird species, making it a bird watcher’s paradise.
The park has kayak rentals, fishing piers, mini golf, a boat ramp and summer day camps for kids, as well as RV spaces and Airstreams. Guided adventure tours, creative classes and introductory fishing lessons also are available.
