The dedication ceremony for the state historical marker for Harmon Jerome McAllister on the campus of Linnie Roberts Elementary - the former site of McAllister Junior High - drew family members, friends of the family and representatives of the Matagorda County Historical Commission.
McAllister is honored for his extensive contributions to education - particularly in Matagorda County - and for his involvement in Bay City’s civic organizations.
He was both a Bay City school trustee and a longtime administrator. McAllister was married to Mary Belle McAllister, later Ingram, who made numerous strides in preserving Matagorda County history.
