In Other Words....
Like it or not, choices in our daily lives where we choose to put ourselves first over the collective, beginning in our sand box days in kindergarten, all the way up to mediating peace talks in regions of conflict, the breakdown in communication within a team can jeopardize the integrity of a positive outcome.
When we are acting solely on our own during personal decision making, the buck stops at our singular decision.
As adults, if we decide to skip brushing our teeth daily, eventually there are consequences for our lack of preventative dental care. It’s a slow progression as the days, weeks and months pass, but small clues are littered along our chosen path until it no longer can be denied - rotten teeth.
From a global perspective, working together to reduce waste can have a vast effect on our planet if we’re willing to work as a team to get ahead of it before the final alarm sounds.
Again, if we stay in the single, ego mindset, it affects more than just our foot print; instead, it has a disastrous effect on the collective whole.
As much as we think we are individuals, we are connected.
Ironically, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to see our planet trashed; however, there may be varying ideas on how change can be implemented through integrated solutions.
Once we cross over from single mindedness to group mindedness, it’s a slippery slope to maintain the team mentality.
The ego doesn’t play well with others in the sand box.
When a group comes together for the common good, leadership can make or break it.
Individuals to be considered for such a position must possess business and interpersonal communication skills to achieve balance.
After all, as a group, we’re all in this together, right?
As long as a team mindset stays rooted in the overall outcome and stands with the integrity of their leadership, the boat stays afloat.
The moment individual judgments leak into the Team mindset, unnoticed at first, the outcome can sink the original, agreed upon goal.
Individuals have a way of losing sight of the team’s shared goal.
Common ground is suddenly unstable when individuals begin acting on their own.
A team’s strength lies in its united front, not in dismantling into smaller factions.
Once the team’s boundary is breached, their infrastructure collapses from within.
Sometimes challenges can be perceived as outside of the team dynamic, when in fact, the conflict can be found from within.
In other words, It’s wise to not cut one’s nose off to spite one’s face.
Be grateful for the sand box we occupy.
