A 20-year-old Bay City surrendered to Bay City Police after a standoff – stemming from a domestic disturbance call – at a Palm Villege apartment Tuesday morning, July 21, police reports show.
Police arrested Keyon Marshall on outstanding Bay City Police Department warrants for: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interference with an emergency telephone call, and simple assault.
He was later booked into Matagorda County Jail.
Police first responded to a reported domestic disturbance at an apartment at 1901 Palm Village.
While officers were en route, dispatch advised that the suspect was inside the residence and had reportedly been awake throughout the night.
The complainant said the man was damaging property inside the home and reported seeing him armed with a black firearm.
The complainant also advised that the man remained inside the residence after she contacted law enforcement.
Officers reviewed video surveillance and confirmed they did not observe the man leaving the residence.
Detective Jose Soto initiated negotiations over a loudspeaker to peacefully resolve the situation.
A short time later, Marshall left the residence with his hands visible and surrendered to officers without incident.
He was safely taken into custody.
Police Chief Christella Rodriguez commended the responding officers and Soto for their professionalism and commitment to bringing the incident to a safe resolution without injury to the public, officers, or the suspect.
