Three new Bay City Police Department officers were recently sworn in.
The three new officers are Ariana Garay, Dillan Wakefield and Timothy Helton.
Garay was born and raised in Markham and her parents are Alfred and Yvonne Garay. Her two siblings are Alyssa and Ty.
She graduated from Tidehaven High School in 2019 and attended Wharton County Junior College before going into law enforcement.
She was an HEB curbsider when she joined the WCJC Police Academy in July 2022.
She graduated from the academy Dec. 9.
Wakefield married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly, and they have a son, Conor, who is 2.
After high school, Wakefield played football for a Houston junior college.
He later joined the U.S. Navy, where he served four years, from 2017 to 2021, and was stationed in Washington, Virginia, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, Bahrain and France.
Helton was born and raised in the north side of Houston and worked in construction and oilfield before joining the U.S. Army where he was medically discharged.
Helton later moved to Katy where he met his wife, Taylor.
They have four children, Archie, Daphneigh-Jo, Penelope and Frankie Mae.
He lives in Wharton with his family.
Wakefield was born in Jennings, La., and raised in Bay City.
