Family & Community Health Texas A&M AgriLife Matagorda County
Mark your calendars now to join us for food and fun at the “Dinner Tonight: Emergency Preparedness Cooking School” which will be presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Matagorda Regional Medical Center Wellness Center.
This event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at 6 p.m. at the Wellness Center dome, 135 Medical Center Drive in Bay City.
The event is free and open to the public.
The program will feature recipes easily prepared during a time of emergency, with limited or no power and mostly non-perishable ingredients.
There will also be reminders, guidance, and tips for keeping food and water supply safe during an emergency.
“Our demonstration recipes are nutritious, cost-effective, and easy to prepare,” said a press release from Matagorda County Extension Agent for Family & Community Health Dianne Gertson.
“Those in attendance will be able to sample the demonstration recipes.”
Families should be prepared for any kind of emergency and have food and water supplies for at least 72 hours.
Each participant will be provided with the ‘Emergency Preparedness Cookbook’ and other items in the registration bag.
