The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for enrollment in the Sheriff’s Academy.
Sheriff Frank “Skipper” Osborne invites citizens to participate in classes that pertain to the safety of the county.
Those classes may include CSI, K-9, Jail Tour, District Attorney’s Office, and Justice of the Peace.
Classes will start on April 20 and ends May 23,
Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Sheriff’s office.
This training does not certify students to be police officers, but will educate the community as to the different divisions and workings of the Sheriff’s department.
Applications are available at the Sheriff’s Office at 2308 Ave. F, Bay City during normal office hours.
All applications will be reviewed and background checks and criminal history checks will be performed on each applicant prior to acceptance into the Academy.
The number of students will be limited to 25 and chosen on a first-come basis. Applications will need to be turned in by Friday, April 14.
