Bay City ISD trustees approved a $1.39 total tax rate after a public hearing on Sept. 20.
All trustees were present at the meeting.
“This is just something we have to do every year,” said BCISD Chief Financial Officer Rick Johnson.
“Setting the tax rate goes hand in hand with approving our budget for the year, which we already approved at the June 21 meeting.”
Johnson reminded trustees that the budget also included a 1% pay increase for all district employees.
With that total tax rate, BCISD is looking at generating $6,827 local revenue per student and $5,848 in state funds.
The total tax rate includes a $0.944 per $100 housing valuation maintenance tax and a $0.447 debt levy.
