Two people - A 22-year-old Bay City woman and a juvenile - were taken into custody in connection with the robbery of stores on Avenue F and on 7th Street a little over four hours apart Sept. 26, police said.
Officers were first dispatched to 4605 Ave F in reference to a robbery at 11:36 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26,
When police arrived they determined a suspect wearing dark colored clothing with a mask entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded cash, reports show.
The suspect left the store with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
Officers flooded the area and could not locate the suspect, officers said.
A few hours later, at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, officers were sent to 2300 Seventh Street about two people wearing dark-colored clothing entering the store, one displaying a handgun.
As officers arrived, they saw two subjects flee the parking lot and enter a dark-colored pickup truck.
Officer Jeromy Washington conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle a few blocks from the scene, police said.
At the stop, officers found cash and a handgun and linked the earlier call late Monday and this call to the occupants of the stopped pickup truck, police said.
The CID Division was contacted and began investigating.
Sidni Kaydel Randon (22), of Bay City, was arrested on one charge of aggravated robbery and booked into Matagorda County Jail.
One juvenile was also taken into custody for the same charge, police said, and taken to a juvenile detention facility.
The case is still actively investigated.
Police officials said Patrol Officer Jeromy Washington and Patrol Sgt. Mikayla Cantu’s quick thinking contributed to the arrests of the suspects.
