From WCJC

The Wharton County Junior College Foundation, in partnership with Wharton County Junior College, announced that Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. has donated $10,000 toward scholarships for the current academic year.
The purpose of the scholarships is to help cover tuition costs for financial need-based students enrolled in Electronics Engineering Technology and Process Technology programs.
These scholarships were awarded to 11 students in these programs during the 2025-26 academic year.
“This donation reflects our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals right here in our region,” said Wendy Irwin, CPChem’s Public Affairs Representative.
“By supporting students pursuing careers in process technology and electrical fields, we’re helping strengthen the local workforce while preparing them for stable, high-demand career paths.”
The Wharton County Junior College Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit whose mission is to provide educational awareness and financial support to Wharton County Junior College (“WCJC”).
This includes student scholarships and events to increase community engagement and build awareness of the Foundation and opportunities to give.
“We are incredibly grateful to Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. for this investment in our students,” said Gary Gillen, the WCJC Foundation’s Board President.
“Their commitment to education and workforce development opens doors for individuals striving to build meaningful careers, while strengthening the future of our community. Partnerships like this truly change lives.
The WCJC Foundation Office is located on the Wharton campus, located inside the J.M. Hodges Library.
