This year Christmas Eve falls on Friday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day is Saturday, Dec. 25.
That means that many local businesses are closed in observance of the holiday starting Thursday and will re-open at regular business hours Monday, Dec. 27.
Those closings include city, federal and county offices.
Matagorda County courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Christmas and open Monday at regular business hours.
The United States Post Office and banks will be closed on Christmas Day.
The Bay City Public Library will be closed for Christmas Friday, Saturday, and Monday.
Bay City Gfl trash will not pick up on Christmas Day and normal trash services will resume the following scheduled pickup day.
Christmas break lasts until Tuesday, Jan. 4 for Bay City ISD, with the district returning to regular hours Wednesday, Jan. 5.
Van Vleck students have Christmas break until Friday, Jan. 7, with classes resuming on Monday, Jan. 11.
Tidehaven ISD students are on break until Jan. 4 and will return to school on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
The Bay City Sentinel office will be closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but resume regular hours Monday, Dec. 27.
