Commissioners Court appointed Precinct 1 Commissioner Bubba Cook as County Judge Pro Tem for 2022 and approved annual service contracts between the county and local agencies at the court’s regular meeting Monday, Dec. 27.
The outgoing judge pro tem, Precinct 4 Commissioner Bubba Frick, presided over Monday’s meeting in County Judge Nate McDonald’s absence.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Troy Shimek will continue to be chairman for the Matagorda County Sick Leave Bank for another year.
- Action taken Monday included:
- Approving the hiring of Elizabeth Patina from part-time to full-time sheriff’s office dispatcher at $15.44 an hour based on three years previous dispatcher experience.
- Approved a contract between the county and Rose Woodson to assist Precinct 4 to manage the Midfield Community Center for the next two years.
- Approved firefighting agreements with Bay City, Palacios and Matagorda fire departments.
The county will give the Bay City and Palacios departments $2,500 for 2022, and $5,000 for Matagorda’s department, county documents show.
- Approved an agreement with Palacios Library for 2022, with the library to receive $70,350 for operations.
- Approved a contract between the county and Friends of Elder Citizens, which will receive $24,900 for 2022.
- Approved a contract with Palacios Area Historical Association, which will receive $10,000 for 2022.
- Approved a contract with Bay City Cemetery Association, which will receive $3,000 for 2022 and $400 for each indigent burial.
- Approved contracts with Van Vleck and Wadsworth community centers.
