Commissioners Court approved Amendment No. 1 to the City of Bay City and Matagorda County agreement to participate on Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) 2.
The agreement - approved by City Council Nov. 16 – expands the TIRZ 2 zone that contains Schulman’s MBG and the proposed Bold Fox housing development.
The expansion takes in an additional 140 acres southwest of the existing boundary on Show Boat Road and will allow for more housing and economic development.
The action taken was at the end of the court’s regular Monday meeting and after two executive sessions.
In other action, the court:
- Extended the Declaration of Disaster for COVID-19 ending Jan. 10.
“I hope we’re headed in the right direction,” said County Judge Nate McDonald.
- Extended the Declaration of Disaster for Hurricane Nicholas, also ending Jan. 10.
- Approved officials from each agency and presiding officers for the Matagorda County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).

District Attorney designee – District Attorney Steven Reis and ADA Lindsay Deshotels
BCPD designee – Lister and Sgt. Chris Hadash
Sheriff’s Office – Sgt. Courtney Harvey
Palacios police – Lt. Vaughn Dierlam
Medical Forensic Services – TXFNE, Dr. Kara Breeden and Brooklley Torres
Behavioral Health Services – Harris Counseling Solutions, Marty Harris
The Crisis Center – Chief Administrator Kelli Wright-Nelson.
