The Crisis Center will host its first-ever “Car Show and Chili Cook-Off” starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, around the Matagorda County Courthouse square in downtown Bay City.
The event is free and open to the public with the car show and cook-off registrations varying by price and category.
Cook-off set up is from 7-8 a.m. and features the categories: chili, desserts, cornbread, margarita madness, and kids cookin’ – all will have awards given to first and second place winners.
Chili entries are $75 per person and the other categories are $25 each.

Car show registration opens at 9 a.m. and features 19 different divisions with 28 total winners.
Vehicle classes are arranged by decade and range from pre-1930s to 1990s and up along with special awards from Crisis Center, participant’s choice, and men and women’s choice.
Live entertainment will be provided by the band NoFilter from 12-2 p.m.
All awards will be given at 3 p.m. for the car show and cook-off winners.
The event will also have vendors, informational booths, food trucks, kids’ games, a 50/50 raffle, and more.
