A 51-year-old Brazoria was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he worked on the ground behind a trailer on 8th Street Aug. 18, Bay City police said.
Officers sent to the 3200 block of 8th Street in reference to an accident observed a 51-year-old Brazoria man lying on the ground behind a trailer.
Officers began CPR until EMS arrived and transported him to Matagorda Regional Medical Center.
Upon arrival, officers determined the victim was stopped in the eastbound lane of traffic trying to repair the left taillight on his trailer.
Another vehicle traveling East on 8th Street attempted to swerve around the victim’s vehicle to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful.
The vehicle struck the victim causing him to hit the trailer.
The driver of the other vehicle did stop and wait for officers to arrive on scene.
It was later discovered that the victim transported to MRMC was declared deceased, police said.
This case is still under investigation.
