Early counts for hazardous waste collection

    Matagorda County Environmental Health Director Lisa Krobot provided partial counts Monday from the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Saturday, Oct. 12. 
  The collection included: 
   Tires - 1400 
   E Waste - 6 Pallets of miscellaneous E-waste, 14 TVs and monitors 
   White goods includes refrigerators, washers, dryers – 39, batteries - 52 
   Oil - 550 gallons; antifreeze - 75 gallons; oil filters - 1 drum   
   Shredding – no count available Monday morning. 
   Clean Harbors - the waste collection and disposal company – about $42,000 spent. 
   This includes paint, chemicals, pesticides, pool chemicals.
  Matagorda County corporations fund the Clean Harbors work for Matagorda County.  
   There was no count Monday from Clean Harbors on how much they collected. 
  “But that is the approximate amount of money that was spent in that area,” Krobot said. 
  “I would also like to thank our sponsors again for the monetary donations and supplies donated for the event - without them this would not be possible,” she added. 
  “Thanks also to the volunteers that come out to help set up, work the event and clean up.”
