Emergency Management Coordinator tells Matagorda County residents to prepare for tropical storm

Emergency Management Coordinator Amanda Campos warned Matagorda County residents to prepare for this week's tropical storm brewing in the gulf.

Campos made her remarks at the Commissioners Court's regular meeting Monday morning, June 17.

She told the court there will be meet later Monday morning at Matagorda County Emergency Operation Center to discuss storm readiness.

The Tropical Weather Outlook predicts storm development in the gulf that could bring 5 to 10 inches of rain between Monday night and Thursday, with "Tuesday the worst."

"We'll be on the dirty side," Campos said, referring to the more intense severe weather on the east (right) side of a tropical storm.

Campos said residents should prepare for flooding and power outages for the next three days.

"Prepare your home," she said.
