Hometown Christmas celebrations

   The Parks and Recreation Elves are busy planning the annual “HomeTown Christmas Celebration” opening this weekend.
  This year’s celebration includes the Christmas in the Park Celebration, the ever-popular Wilderness Trail of Lights, and Christmas Movies in the Park.
Bay City’s “44th Lighted Christmas Parade” was rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, downtown.

“On Saturday, Dec. 7, we host the ‘15th Annual Christmas In The Park’ at Riverside Park from 1-5 p.m. featuring a Zip-Line, Winterland Maze along with photos with Santa and the Grinch,” said Interim Parks & Recreation Director Kelly Penewitt in a press release.
“Our plans also include informational booths, crafts, games, and food trucks.”  
The evening ends with hayrides through the Wilderness Trail of Lights from 6-9 p.m.  
Parking for the event is $10 per car.
From 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 to Sunday, Dec. 15, the 15th Annual Wilderness Trail of Lights continues with hayrides each night with parking at $5 per car.  
The Wilderness Trail of Lights will continue from 6-9 p.m. from Dec. 18 to Jan. 1 from 6-9 at no charge.  
“On Friday, Dec. 13, we will host the ever-popular ‘Movies in the Park’ starting at 6:30 p.m.,” said Penewitt.  
“This month is a double feature with “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Make sure to bring chairs and blankets to sit on and enjoy the movies!”  
Parking for the movies is $10 per car and includes hot cocoa and popcorn.
