Hometown Christmas starts Dec. 3

This year’s “HomeTown Christmas” event kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, with Bay City’s annual “Lighted Christmas Parade” on 7th Street from Moore Avenue to Texas 60.
The parade is co-sponsored by the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture.
Check out more Christmas activities from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the USO Service Center at 2105 Avenue M.
Plans include entertainment from dance groups and choirs, Historic Bay City Tours, informational booths, crafts, games, and food trucks.
The event ends that evening with a Christmas light hayride starting at 6 p.m.
The “Claus Applause Decorating Contest” for homes and businesses returns again this year.
“We are encouraging local Bay City businesses and Bay City residents to decorate for Christmas,” said Bay City Parks and Recreation Department supervisor Kelly Penewitt.
“You can choose to be a judge or be on a list for citizens to come by and enjoy the lights and Christmas Spirit! We hope that you will join the Bay City Parks and Recreation and be a part of the HomeTown Christmas Celebration.”
Those interested in participating in the decorating contest, being a sponsor of the event, or a vendor Saturday, contact the Parks and Recreation office at 1209 10th Street, 979-323-1660, or via e-mail at parks-rec@cityofbaycity.org.
