The Bay City Public Library is launching its annual Summer Reading Program with the theme, “Adventure Begins at the Library” on Saturday, June 1.
“Generously supported by the Bay City Library Association, Friends of the Bay City Library, Friends of the Sargent Library, and book sponsor Celanese, this year’s program inspires readers of all ages to discover adventures of all kinds through books and corresponding activities,” said BCPL Library Director Samantha Denbow.
“Library staff have put together an exciting slough of activities for this summer. Books and learning can be fun, and that is what we want people to see.”
Summer activities kick off the week of June 10 at both the Bay City and Sargent branches.
Some programs will require registration due to limited seating at those programs.
All sign-up information and forms can be picked up at the respective library branch.
“Reading can be logged in the ReaderZone app from June 1 to July 27,” she added.
“This year’s ‘Top Reader Party’ will be held at Schulman’s MBG with a private movie showing for those who read the most minutes.”
“The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to prevent the summer slide,” said BCPL Children’s Specialist Pamela Burrell.
“Even 20 minutes of reading a day can have a large impact on academic success. Why not earn prizes while reading?”
