This year New Year’s Eve falls on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
That means that many local businesses are closed in observance of the holiday starting Tuesday, Dec. 31, and will re-open at regular business hours Thursday Jan. 2.
U.S. Postal Service, banks, and other federal offices will only be closed on Wednesday, New Year's Day.
Regular Post Office hours and mail delivery will resume on Thursday.
Matagorda County courthouse is open regular hours Tuesday, Dec. 31, and closed on Wednesday.
The City of Bay City, Bay City Public Library, and City Hall are closed Tuesday-Wednesday, and return to regular business hours Thursday.
Bay City and Tidehaven ISD students have Christmas Break until Monday, Jan. 6, and will return to regular hours Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Van Vleck ISD students have Christmas break until Tuesday, Jan. 7, and will return to regular school hours Wednesday, Jan. 8.
The Bay City Sentinel office will be closed for New Year’s observance starting Tuesday, Dec. 31, and will resume normal business hours on Thursday, Jan. 2.
