Police investigate shooting death at apartment complex

   Bay City police are investigating the shooting death of man accused of a home invasion robbery and an auto theft at gunpoint at Palm Village Apartment Complex Feb. 13.
  Officers were initially sent to 1901 Palm Village, about the stolen vehicle around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.
Police said that the car was allegedly stolen by David Perez, 23, who brandished a firearm while taking the vehicle.
  While Officers were talking to the victim, another victim from the apartment complex told officers that he was robbed at gunpoint minutes earlier.
  At about 5:42 p.m. Feb. 13, Dispatch received multiple calls of shots fired at 1801 Palm Village, which is the same apartment complex with a different address.
  When Officers went to the apartment, they found Perez dead.
  Police said it was apparent that Perez forced his way into an apartment armed with a firearm.
  The homeowner was able to take the gun away from Perez and protect himself and his family, reports show. 
  The shooting case will be presented to the grand jury.
