The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a Pledger address on CR 193 abou t a shooting, and the victim was unresponsive.at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.
Deputies arrived on scene and discovered Ernest Ray Davis, 54, laying in the doorway of the residence with a possible gunshot wound, deputies said.
EMS arrived and Davis showed no signs of life, reports show.
Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Texas Ranger were notified, to conduct an investigation.
The Justice of the Peace arrived and an inquest was performed.
Davis was sent to Ft. Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
No further information will be released at this time, the sheriff’s office said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
