Bay City Police Department, Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, and Bay City Fire Marshal Dan Shook were dispatched to a trailer home fire at 3020 1st St, Bay City. at about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec.11.
The fire was brought under within about 40 minutes, but crews remained on scene for about another hour to extinguish hot spots and ensure the fire would not rekindle.
Damage was estimated to be about $15,000, Shook said.
The fire was confined to a bedroom, but smoke damaged the entire home.
The house had been vacant for almost 10 years, so no one was home at the time of the fire, Shook added.
There were no reported injuries from the fire.
The Fire Marshal performed a preliminary investigation.
Because the home was vacant, there was no electricity to the building.
The fire started in a bedroom, near the bed.
The exact cause of the fire is undetermined, but the investigation is ongoing.
