City opens BMX Park for public use

BMX riders can begin using Bay City’s first BMX Bike park that officially opened its hours Monday, June 3.
Storms forced the cancellation of the park’s grand openings May 18 and June 1.
The BMX Bike Park is a .27 mile dirt track featuring tabletops, camel backs, single, double and triple jumps, big jumps and skinnies.
There is a learner’s loop for first time bike riders to learn how to ride and the smallest riders can ride safely on their own mildly challenging course.
Parents are not left out of the fun.
While their kids are on the track, they can walk the path around the perimeter of the BMX Bike track.
It is a great addition to the Bay City Park System and will re-purpose City Field which has been an underutilized park.
This park will provide additional recreational opportunities to a wide variety of ages and skill levels.
This project contributes to the quality of life for residents that seek local parks to improve their physical, mental and social well-being.
The BMX Bike Park is a cooperative build between the Bay City Gas Company and the City of Bay City.
Bay City Lion’s Club has donated funding for a permanently installed bike repair/pump station.
The total length of the walking track is approximately .2 miles and the BMX Bike track is .27 miles.
