Bay City fell to Brazosport 49-15 last Friday night, Oct. 8, but the Blackcats will need to rebound quickly with an away game against Columbia this Friday, Oct. 15.
Bay City (2-3, 0-1) will face a Columbia (4-1, 1-0) that dispatched Needville last week 56-35, in another District 12-4A-1 game.
“It was a tough loss to take, but I tip my hat to Brazosport. They capitalized on all the mistakes we had Friday night,” said Blackcat Head Coach Robert Jones.
Bay City had five turnovers against Brazosport – two fumbles and three interception – to none for the Exporters.
Bay City had 234 yards total offense, and Brazosport tallied 426 total yards.
Blackcat junior quarterback Joel Davalos showed some improvement in the passing department, 8 of 14 for 150 yards and 18.8-yard average and two touchdowns.
Davalos’ main target was junior wide receiver David Perez who had three catches for 93 yards – the longest was for 53 yards, to go with a 21-yard, first-quarter touchdown reception.
