Bay City ISD issued an advisory at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, that smoke was identified in the Bay City High School building.
The staff quickly identified the source of the smoke and swiftly removed it from the building.
Bay City Volunteer Fire Department was immediately on scene and worked with the Bay City ISD Operations and Police Department to quickly remove the remaining smoke that was contained in one wing of the building.
Bay City ISD Police and local law enforcement secured the area around the perimeter of the property while students and staff waited safely at their evacuation locations outside the building.
Shortly after, the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department declared it safe for students and staff to return to the building and resume normal operations.
Most importantly, all students and staff were safe and were evacuated promptly according to BCISD emergency procedures.
